Making a glycol chiller

DIY Glycol Chiller AC unit. Cooler or container larger than AC evaporator (coleman coolers work well). Basic screw drivers, pliers. A new refrigeration system I made which can be used as a wort chiller , small air conditioner, aquarium chiller and much more. Take the two wires running to the thermostat control and splice them together.

Close back up the control box.

Back to the Condenser, Figure out how you want it positioned and how it will fit into your cooler. I’m using a 52qt tall cooler. Start pulling and moving the condenser into position. Glycol chillers are never used to chill wort to pitching temp. At least on a home brew scale. Get a counter flow chiller to get to pitch temp. Glycol is only for main ting desired fermentation temps period.

Build a Glycol Chiller for Your Brewery If you are building a commercial scale brewery, or even a large home brewery, you may want to build your own glycol chiller to control the temperature of your fermenter. A glycol chiller is actually a refrigeration system that is used to cool a bath or tub of an antifreeze called propylene glycol , or just glycol for short.

A chiller is involved in more steps of the beer making process than you think. This is your main cooling line. Your cooling and glycol system works hard for your brewery. The low temperatures associated with glycol mixtures make them useful for applications where a chiller must carry a large amount of heat must away quickly. The heart of a glycol system is the power pack, a refrigeration unit chilling food grade anti-freeze ( glycol ). The chilled glycol is then pumped through insulated trunkline containing the beer lines.

Power packs are sized for the length of run between the keg and the faucet. It provides better heat transfer parameters than water, and can be mixed with water to provide a variety of heat transfer characteristics. Glycol comes in two varieties: ethylene glycol and propylene glycol.

F irst, there is no other single piece of equipment directly or indirectly involved in so many steps in the process of making beer. The cold glycol can be used to keep the beer in a fermenter at a desired temperature. The Stasis the the first Glycol Chiller designed specifically for homebrewer. The Stasis solves one of the biggest challenges in brewing great beer at home: precise temperature control. The tanks are just the beginning-you will then need to modify them and add fittings, lines, false bottoms, pumps and more to make them function as a brewery.

I want to focus on the glycol chiller I saw on the FrankenBrew DVD. Specially designed pump for glycol , this circulates the glycol through the chiller and out to the process. Our Glycol Chillers: Committed to Cold There’s a world of difference between hot and lukewarm, cool and cold.

Each Glycol Pump Kit includes a submersible pump that is placed in the cool bath of this chiller along with a digital controller.

Made with high quality manufacturing and components, the MiniChilly is a durable system for many years of problem-free wine making. Here are the top three things you should know about glycol chillers. Capacity: Many chiller ratings are based on the theoretical power of the compressor, while the cooling capacity of the MiniChilly is rated at a realistic ambient temperature.

My sons are trying to get one started. Wall outlet power cord with plug. Alpha supplies chillers ranging from 1. Many of the leading breweries, wineries, distilleries, and industrial manufacturers in the USA and around the worl turn to us for innovative Glycol Chillers. GD is as committed to the cold as we are to our clients. We strive to build long lasting partnerships by offering.

A cooling connection kit is included with your Glycol Chiller (see page 1). Firstly, connect the couplers to the fermenter: 1. Take the threaded section of the coupler and connect it to one side of the Grainfather Conical Fermenter. Make sure it is screwed in tightly. GLACIER GLYCOL CHILLER for sale Great condition. Whaley is a manufacturer of industrial brewery chiller systems.

The brewery industry relies heavily on WPI for quality manufactured products such as glycol chillers, water chillers, glycol pump tank skids, brew-tank temperature control packages, brew-house control centers, and much more. The Grainfather Glycol Chiller with Cooler Connection Kit. The chiller sends glycol into the stainless steel cooling sleeve, chilling the steel, and thus chilling your wort evenly and completely. From Microbrewery to Brewpub to Regional to Large Brewery We Have A Solution To Meet Your Needs. Glycol Feed System for Chiller Condenser Water Loop.

Before making changes to any HVAC system one should consult a mechanical engineer familiar with the particular system in question including an antifreeze feed system for a chiller condenser water loop. Offered as either a portable or stationary package, each unit is built with the same high quality components and simple design as our chillers. WINERY GLYCOL CHILLERS Winery Series. GD Chillers offers a variety of self-contained Glycol Heaters.

Winery chillers used in the fermentation process of wine making to control the temperature during fermentation. Chillers in the US are sized by either tonnage or horsepower. Constructed from a rotationally moulded polyethylene tank with an air tight design, it keeps condensation to a minimum and is the most robust tank on the market, superior to stainless steel or fibreglass.

For smaller applications, our Polaris glycol chiller is manufactured to the highest standards to guarantee optimum performance. EarthWise Ice-enhanced Air-cooled Chiller Plant.
