How cold plates work

As the plates absorb electrical waste heat, they dissipate it through the flow paths using liquid cooling. In a cold plate cooler, the beer is run through a aluminum cold plate that is covered with ice. The ice coming in contact with the plate causes the plate to become cold , which in turn causes the beer running through the plate to become cold. Imagine a cubic inch of meat, frozen.


You just let it sit in the air - it slowly gains heat from the surrounding air (from six square inches of air columns).

A plate and frame exchanger is similar to most heat exchangers that it places two fluids in close proximity without mixing so that heat can be transferred for one fluid to another. A shell and tube exchanger is a common example of this type. A plate heat exchanger is a type of heat exchanger that uses metal plates to transfer heat between two liquids. This has a major advantage over a conventional heat exchanger in that the liquids are exposed to a much larger surface area.
